Works Consulting will re-section ADOT's highway traffic database

January 28, 2000 -- Phoenix Arizona -- Lee Engineering, LLC (www.leeengineering.com) announced today that Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) selected Works Consulting (www.gisworks.com) to determine the segmentation of homogeneous traffic count segments statewide.

This project is necessary because the 1200 record database has not substantially changed (other than addition of segments on new highways) in the last 25 years.  The urbanization of Arizona has imposed drastic changes to the breakout of homogeneously defined traffic segments.  The process will use ADOT's photo log and robust GIS to establish new segment breaks where major traffic generators have been introduced.

The effort reflects ADOT's ongoing determination to provide valid information to support the transportation planning and decision-making process.
