Works Consulting to evaluate urban traffic count figures

December 18, 1999 -- Phoenix Arizona -- Lee Engineering, LLC (www.leeengineering.com) announced today that Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) selected Works Consulting (www.gisworks.com) to verify the output from established Automatic Traffic Recorders (ATRs) in the urbanized areas of Phoenix and Tucson.

The project calls for verification of the results that are automatically tabulated by the typical embedded inductive loop detector site in urban settings.  Also, 8-hour duration classification counting of the same five (minimum) sites will be tabulated.  FHWA requires this project as a calibration effort for counting devices that apparently have never before been verified.  ADOT will use the urban classification data for a variety of transportation planning issues.
